AMS Happenings - Weekly Newsletter 8/11 - 8/15
AMS HAPPENINGS!
8/11 – 8/15
Greetings AMS Families,
Welcome to the new school year for 2025-2026!
We are about to embark on the first days of school. As we start the year, we want to make sure families are aware, backpacks will not be allowed in any classrooms for the start of this school year. We will intentionally teach your students how to manage time, navigate lockers and carry a few items for their classes. This is to limit trip/fall hazards in the classrooms, prevent backpack overloading and minimize distractions.
Additionally, we will review with students when they may utilize their cell phones during the day. We also were hopeful you would visit with your students about the following aspects.
- AT NO TIME should a cell phone be used in the bathroom, locker room, or in a manner that requires the camera to be active (no photos or videos)
- Cell phones should be secured in lockers by the 7:40am bell.
Here are links for our website for the District - USD 383 and our school - SUSAN B. ANTHONY MIDDLE SCHOOL Please take the opportunity to become familiar with all of the helpful information to be found on our Home page as well as the other pages listed across the top.

NOTE FROM THE NURSE:
Message from the School Nurse:
Dear Parent/Guardian - My name is Keely Say, and I am the School Nurse at AMS. This will be my 8th year as a school nurse and I absolutely love it. I have a full-time HealthAid, Kristi Steck, who works with me in the nurse's office. Please reach out this school year either by phone or email if you have any medical questions/concerns about your student. I want to encourage you to please provide an updated immunization record for your student at the beginning of the school year and whenever your student receives an immunization(s) during the school year. The link below is a great resource that lists the required immunizations for school for each grade level. I have Ibuprofen, Tylenol, TUMS, and cough drops in the nurse's office. I can give these to students if the parent/guardian has given permission in the online enrollment. If your student will need to have any other medication at school this year, please notify the nurse's office. If it is a prescription medication, doctor and parent need to fill out the school districts medication permission form and give it to the school nurse. If it is a non-prescription medication, the parent/guardian needs to fill out the non-prescription medication permission form and give it to the school nurse. Middle School students can self-carry inhalers and Epipens. All other medication is kept in the nurse's office. I look forward to taking care of your students this year and hope they have an amazing year! Sincerely, Keely Say
